Turkeys are nervous..urging everybody to eat more pie...pumpkin pie, that is! 

 

 
And that's because it's that time of the year to get together and celebrate a quintessentially American tradition: Thanksgiving Day. Almost all of humanity joins to be thankful for all the blessings of their lives, but Americans dedicate a day to celebrate formally. And our homes turn the colors of fall with decorations, including those with turkeys, pumpkin pies, autumn leaves, pilgrims and more. Even our envelopes are decorated,
 

 
and the air smells of spices and homes are warm. We celebrate abundance, and every little thing the year has brought to us...even the ones we can't understand, in hopes one day we will. It's a time for meditation and getting the family together, even traveling long ways to meet, and often with members of several generations. We meet for a day or two (hopefully more!) and have a great dinner on the fourth Thursday of every November. It's a time for cooking good ole recipes and snoozing off after a turkey overdose! :)
