It's that time of the year...the holidays! With Halloween past us, it's time to prepare for Thanksgiving. One of the key things we do is contact and invite friends or relatives we haven't talked to in months or years and send them our best wishes. I have friends, very dear to me, that live far away, and a Thanksgiving card triggers the only time we talk. We receive each other's card, and that brings on a phone call or, if possible, sometimes even a visit. And you probably know how true friends are: it's like we talked yesterday! We all love the personal touch of a paper card. And it gets even more personal when you can get your name (or the recipient's) printed on them. And that's exactly what you get at Zazzle and when they're made by independent artists. If you don't want to change a lot of things in your home each season, one thing you can change to celebrate each season is add a cushion or two! It's easy and the touch is practical and, actually, helps accentuate the theme as it contrasts with the rest of your decor. Whether it's funny, cute, antique, vintage or ultra modern, it will be more so if the rest of the decor is not...The more mainstream style is, of course, also great: matching your new item (cushion or other) with your decor. Throw blankets add comfort to our days but far from being a merely useful thing to have, they can be art! Throw blankets sure add to your home decor and set the mood of any season. Reds, brown and golden tones and motifs with leaves and trees set the mood for fall and instill a warm light into whichever room you set them in. They can also have text with a personal or seasonal message. I will be showing you a few of the throw blankets at Zazzle, which you can customize to your liking in many ways. Most people love spring or..even more common, summer! But I do love autumn! Why? I think it's the season when nature shows off the grand finale of color and light display in all its splendor before erasing everything in winter before it starts again in spring. Don't get me wrong, winter is beautiful...particularly where it snows. The blankets of white and contrasting stark tree bark or the green of spruces and other evergreen trees are all enchanting, but fall is still my favorite! Autumn brings reds, rich browns, orange, gold..it's truly royal! And while Nature does it job outdoors, we bring it into our homes...all spiced up (pun intended) with the smells and tastes of the holidays. Halloween is near..only 7 days away...but you can still get awesome stuff online! We all know it's fun to invite all goblins and monsters of the neighborhood and family for a party, or going out trick-or-treating with them....Indoor parties are becoming more common among families wanting to get together in a safe place. In any case, Halloween motif plates, napkins or treat bags make it all more fun! Adult parties or groups may have a "darker" or silly style, while those for kids are better cute and funny... T-shirts help identify groups when they go out together, or just get you in the "spooky" mood. Matching napkins, plates and placemats or hats add to the fun. If you're not having an indoors party but going out, treat bags are a must and sturdy ones are best for the lucky ones. I didn't know...but August is the best time to buy a PC, second only to Black Friday, August is the best time to get special prices in PCs. And this coincides with the fact that I have to get myself a new computer. My faithful little desktop still does all I need for work and fun (including video games). As my lifestyle grows in complexity, I must be able to do more tasks at the same time...and fast! I have 2 blogs, 2 websites, I do 2D and 3D digital art for a few virtual worlds (aside from art on canvas and a "real world" job!), I collaborate with 2 digital artists to sell in 3 different online shops, and yes, I find time to play video games. The game I play requires that I move my defense or attack in fractions of a second (literally!). Plus, I also need visual precision when making 2D and 3D art. I've always been inspired by the Birth of Venus, by Botticcelli, so I decided to make - not a copy - but a "modernized version"..of her face....a version that would travel from the time of Botticelli to ours, yet retain her air. I therefore saturated the complementary colors present in the original painting and emphasized the line. It's one of my favorite paintings, for its vibrant colors and calm mood. It moves yet it stares at us as it moves. A friend of mine and her husband just finished their diving training and are so happy  they can't stop talking about it. I do not know anything about SCUBA diving but I shared their enthusiasm so I decided to express it in "their terms". But how to "speak Scuba"?
