Get into the Spirit of the Season with Christmas Candles

Image
Scents bring feelings and memories. It's wired in our brains: the brain zones dedicated to emotions and scents are very close together! A scented candle can create an ambience filled with warm and cozy feelings, great smooth energy and relaxation. It's another dimension of decor! Thus, the gift of candles is one of feelings and memories. What a better time of the year than the holidays to evoke the spirit of Christmas and long time family and friends memories?! These candles will help set the tone for a fireside conversation, dinner, get-together or just relaxing on your own. Here are some candles with the scents we associate with Christmas holidays. Below you will find other scents that will make a great holiday gift - particularly for those that have everything else or those you want to give the gift of memories and warm, cozy feelings....whether it's winter or summer or spring. Christmas Decorations...Indoor & Outdoor

It's Christmas time!! And it's time to get a classic Christmas tree! Some of us like them natural, with the typical scent of Christmas...but, for me, it's more practical to get an artificial tree.  Artificial trees can be reused year after year, lowering the overall cost of Christmas celebrations. You can store them away easily and use different ornaments each year for variation, if we want a different look each year. You don't have to water an artificial Christmas tree, you won't have to vacuum the falling needles and the vast majority are flame-retardant.  Also, you won't trigger anybody's allergies and you don't have to worry about mold or bugs in them. If you want to have the scent of Christmas in your home, there are candles that can do the job!  Here are some gorgeous trees. Some are pre-lit, so you don't have to buy separate lights for them.        Outdoor lights have become part of the tradition. They can be simple lights or

Smart TVs starting at $99 !

Smart TVs are here to stay. Start TVs are television sets that use the power of the internet to provide regular programming as well as free or paid streaming services like Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix and Youtube and other general or specialized movie, music or live programming.  You can also choose when to view your favorite programming (e.g. video on demand).  They already have the flat screen we all love, plus high-definition or even 4k level definition visual resolution..plus internet...a dream come true that allows us all to have all of our entertainment "needs" in a single electronic equipment.  Some can be controlled through Alexa....or directly using voice or gestures, or by touching or "writing" on the screen with a "pen".  Yes, smart TVs are a sophisticated piece of electronics, but they have become affordable. Depending on the size of the screen and the features you want it to have, you can expect to pay anywhere from less than 100 dollars to ov

A Cool Laptop is a Happy Laptop

Laptops have very tiny, delicate components that deform or melt when the computer's temperature rises.  Overheating may happen when you use your computer to the limits of its capacity...like trying to play a game with complex graphics on an Pentium. When vents are blocked. Or when the computer is getting old.  Your laptop may become slow, you may be unable to open more than a few programs (maybe only 1!) at a time, freeze, or, in the worst cases, it may just shut down and reboot at the peak temperature.  And one day..it may stop working...its little circuits will have melted! So we must do all possible to keep laptops happily cool.  If you notice your laptop is hot to touch, suddenly shutting down or getting slow...get it checked and cleaned. The usual culprit is dust clogging the vents. Cleaning it will restore at least some of venting capacity and prolong your laptop's life.  Never put your laptop over a blanket or anything else that blocks its vents.  Elevate your laptop

Gaming PC for Christmas (or whenever) ! !

Dreamy eyes, huh?! I know the feeling!  Gaming computers (whether laptop or desktop types) make awesome Christmas gifts. Honestly speaking, they make great gifts at any time of the year! But what better time thank Christmas to get a powerful monster machine that allows smooth, efficient gaming for yourself or someone you love? Nothing more frustrating than a weak computer that doesn't let you play your favorite games. This can happen when the computer is not powerful enough, or when your computer is getting old and it's slowing down (maybe due to heat or excess use...all things age!).  Great graphic cards and plenty of RAM (best if 16 or more) are key elements...but a powerful processor (at least Ryzen 5 or Intel i5 is best). As for the graphic card, everybody dreams of an NVIDIA GE Force 3080, but that's needed when you want to play in 4k resolution; if you're happy with 1080 you don't need such a gigantic, expensive graphic card.  Also remember if you're buyi

Santa Claus wears a blue suit... really?

Image
The original St Nicholas (Santa Claus) suit was tan or brown ; he was a Bishop of Greek descent that  worked mostly in Turkey. He is regarded as the patron saint of children, merchants, students and others. For the many things he did as one of the earliest Christian saints, including resurrecting three kids that had been pickled in brine, he was called the "wonderworker". He also had the habit of secretly leaving gifts for people. This habit gave rise to the legendary character of Sinterklaas (in the Netherlands and Germany) and St Nicholas, Papa Noel, or Santa Claus in the rest of Europe, where he wears a blue suit . The red suit version is attributed to Thomas Nast, a Bavarian-born American artist, working for Harper's Weekly in the United States. He first depicted Santa in 1863, in sepia colors, but in 1881 he depicted Santa with a red suit for the first time. Nast is now known is regarded the father of American Cartoonists, not only for his Santa depiction, but also
